TSE researched, analyzed, designed, and mocked-up Far Forward Medical Logistics (MedLog) app mobile application for Army personnel to improve workflow and expand the options for ordering, including inventory management, order processing, and budget insights. Capable of running on existing iOS and Android mobile devices and tablets, the MedLog app functions in the full range network connectivity, from excellent WiFi or cellular data-links, through sporadic and unreliable connections, to non-existent data-links.

The ultimate goal of this project is simplify the process and reduce the level of effort required for users to do their jobs by providing advanced capabilities including barcode scanning and Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Near-Field Communication (NFC), voice recognition, and validation of data-entry fields when managing inventory and rapid, repeatable, and intelligent ordering and re-ordering—all in a mobile app that users will find familiar. TSE worked closely with the Army to ensure that the app will be able to integrate with their network, as well as the wider DoD network, using existing APIs and XML formats for data-exchange. We designed a user interface (UI) applying a test-driven development process to ensure the App will meet all Government security and data-handling requirements while not compromising the feature set.

TSE completed a Phase 1 as part of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) topic A191-060, “Far Forward Medical Logistics Light Weight Store and Forward Capability” and is moving forward with development with Phase II.
